Design Class

The first big assignment in my design class was due a few weeks ago.  It was my first time using Adobe Illustrator, and the task was to make a poster for an event using an Art Deco style. I chose to make a poster for one of my favorite local bands, Chris Merritt.  I love his music, and I’ve probably seen him in concert at least 10 times over the past few years.

On a whim, I sent him an e-mail with the poster attached to get his opinion. He liked it and asked me if he could use it for his next concert. I obliged… and so it shall be. Here it is (feel free to critique it… I like constructive criticism):

Reoccurring Thoughts

surprise-flowersThis message has gone through my head countless times over the past few months. I needed to share it. And since my blog is what sharing is all about, well, here it is… the deepest desires of my simple little man-heart. (And if you want to read it instead of listening to it, click here.)

Sometimes music just says it best.

(I was just informed in the comments that this song is about a stalker.  Apparently the line between ‘Stalker’ and ‘incredibly patient man who just wants a chance at love’ is very thin.)

Magic Fingers

All I can say is God bless the hands of Gene Harris. This literally made my jaw drop and my eyes water. This is true talent and musicianship in its purest form.
