Letters To Companies I Hate - Day 3

Dear NBA Color Commentators,

Every night you sit there around a table with your old NBA buddies all dressed up in your pastel shirts and high fashion suits and ties that make it look like one of the gays from project runway got you in his clutches before the show. Your job? You reinvent the wheel.

I am curious. Do you ever just sit and listen to the words that come out of your mouth? I’m sure that you do, and that is what is so surprising to me. I mean, honestly, how may ways can you answer the question, “What do the (your favorite team here) need to do to win it?” Let me give you a hint that might save you some air and probably your 3 remaining brain cells. To win any game, all a team needs to do is score more points than the other team! That’s it. End of story.

And this is how you make a living!

I’m amazed at how many people make their living off of speaking when they have nothing important, or even logically coherent to say. Do us all a favor. Cork it and just let us watch the game!

Advertising That Gives Me Chills

I love advertising. Let me rephrase. I love GOOD advertising. I saw this ad a few minutes ago on the Discovery Channel while watching Cash Cab. I couldn’t help but hunt it down and throw it up on my blog before The Office came on. Enjoy!

“Boom-dee-adda, boom-dee-adda, boom-dee-adda…”

Lost… I Think

So, I’m not a very big fan of Lost. Actually, I’ve never seen it. Yeah yeah, I know it’s ‘incredible’, and you’d probably hate me even more if I told you I’ve never seen a full episode of 24. Well I haven’t. Call me crazy, but I’d just rather watch The Office or Scrubs… or Youtube for that matter.

Yesterday, however, one of my old buddies sent me a copy of this video. I thought it was hilarious, and therefore I am sharing it with you. It really makes me want to go on vacation.

Brace Yourself, This Is Amazing!

I love it when people dedicate themselves to something unique and amazing. Today, I saw this video and my jaw about hit the floor. Carnegie Hall is known for hosting some of the absolute greatest musicians in the world. Orchestras, solo artists and vocal groups have come from all over the world to perform in one of the greatest venues on the planet.

Of all the talent that has graced the walls of Carnegie Hall, one name stands out among the crowd in a very unique way. This man is Buddy Greene, and he plays the harmonica. Yes, a man named Buddy performed in Carnegie Hall, and yes he played the harmonica. You’ll understand when you watch this clip. It made my entire body shake with glee.

Nobody hides better than Waldo. And that is why this makes so much sense. Can you find him… before it’s too late?

This video made me laugh out loud… twice (and that’s saying something). That automatically makes it worth posting. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I Thought He Was Smarter

My brother Joshua is one of those kids who does a really good job at making other people feel like underachievers. To explain my point, I will give you a few examples. He always gets a perfect GPA. He is good at everything he attempts. Last year, he tried out for the soccer team, made all the cuts, and then just didn’t show up to the last day of tryouts. Later, the coach approached him wondering why didn’t show up. She had planned on putting his name on the roster. “Oh, I just wanted to see if I could make it. I would rather run track,” he responded. He is the leader of a statewide youth service program that is attempting to end world hunger, and he practices the piano for fun.

Up until yesterday, I thought he was a smart kid… then he sent me this:

I want you to pay attention to the 2 min 30 (ish) seconds point in the film. This is my smart brother attempting a 360 while going off of a jump on a sled, on his knees, at a velocity of what appears to be 30 miles per hour. Rather than spin, he decided to bury himself head first, much like an ostrich, in the snow. I think he’s lucky his head didn’t snap off his neck like a Maraschino Cherry off it’s stem after I snatch it off the top of a friends ice cream sundae.

I don’t know whether I’m slightly jealous, or just shocked at how he worked up the balls to do this, but I really do think it’s all pretty cool… and I’m glad he’s not dead… though he probably will be dead after the Mom reads this post.

Lasse Gjertsen is my new hero. This kid is from somewhere in Norway, and he is one creative dude… not to mention an amazing amateur editor. These films not only made me laugh, but made me step back and think ‘wow… that’s pretty awesome.’ Thus, I am sharing them with you. Here ya go!

I especially like when Lasse the Drummer stops drumming and lights up a smoke. Hilarious!

I Watch The Super Bowl For Its Commercials

This past Sunday was the Super Bowl, as everybody knows. While my roomies had a party and watched the game with a bunch of friends, I sat in my room doing homework… unless the commercials were on. Everyone was kind enough to holler my name at every pause for a commercial break. I would run out and laugh for a minute, then run back into my room to continue my studies. Here are some of my favorites…

The ETrade Baby was hilarious!

And who can resist the Planters Peanuts girl? Obviously nobody…
