Clueless

Finals are over and Christmas is fast approaching.  I have my Christmas shopping done for everyone in my family except for my Mom.  I went shopping for almost four hours yesterday with my roomie, Steve.  Neither of us could find a gift that we thought would appropriately demonstrate the love and appreciation we feel towards our mothers.   Isn’t it funny that the people who you know best are the people it is so hard to shop for?  Here’s the dilemma:  My mom has pretty bad allergies, so I can’t buy her some fancy smelly soap, a perfume, lotion or a scented candle.  I don’t want to cop out and just buy her jewlery or shampoo.  A gift card is a cop-out that says I couldn’t think of anything to get you so… just take this pre-spent money, and you just don’t buy clothes for a girl if she’s not there to try them on.  Basically, all of the traditional ‘mom’ presants are out of the question.  If anyone has any ideas as to what she might want, pleeease feel free to give me your advice and councel.  I would really appreciate it.

I bet if you just went home and spent some time with her, she would love that the most.

Hey Clueless–As the fish were swimming in the pool this morning, they discussed how cool it would be if you would just go home and play a game with your mom this weekend! Glurp, glurp. We think she would love that. And let me just clue you in–a girl always likes to get something to wear. A new sweater or shirt always makes my day. And remember that there’s such a thing as a gift receipt. If your taste is really lousy, she can go back and get one she likes. Just tell her up front that you won’t be offended if she does that! Hey, this is a cool blog but just so you know–the background on the comment page is so dark that I can’t read the words telling me where to write things. How about if you fix that for the senior citizens in your life.

Bye

My Mom wants me to come home and paint her bedroom for her. I would rather buy a gift. Isn’t funny that some times we want to buy something instead of giving her what she really wants.

You know as I read your blog I thought a couple of things to myself, the first one being maybe you truly don’t know your mom! Are you serious what could be nicer than a 300 dollar gift certificate to any store i’m sure she would feel real bad if you said mom here’s 300 hundred dollars go buy yourself something real nice, your right she’d probably like that homemade halmark card for 50 cents that you put together at the last second cause you don’t know what else to get because you did what COP OUT!! OH and you’re right buying jewelery is also a cop out what girl would want a diamond? I haven’t heard of too many! Plus shopping at the toys R us down the road is going to be real hard to find something for your mom! Oh and buy the way what does algergies mean? Is that some fancy spanish word for I seriously have no clue! Or does it mean I have bad taste in smell and if i got my mom something that smelled it would probably stink real bad? My suggestion is that you show your mom what she is really worth and send her to hawaii!

Sorry I am so mean and sarcastic.  Sometimes cousins show their love in a very hateful and mean way.  You are, however, my favorite cousin.

Oh just a quick thought maybe instead of actually spending time with your mom you should spend some more time away from her that might make christmas a little bit more sweet for her! Just a thought!

She would probably like to SEE you more then just hearing you. I bet she would want a clean home too, (tee hee).

Well, in our family we always make our presents so this year my cousin made this cute thing and I stole her idea. It’s like a twelve by twelve matting with our last name HARRIS in the middle then it has all of the kids’ names branching off connected to it like a crossword puzzle. We made the letters with the Sizzix machine and then put them into our sticker machine and it makes a really cute thing to frame. The only really hard part was figuring out how the names cross each other in a good way. Anyway, that’s a good idea. Mom’s have always loved things that you make them and yay, there’s an idea.
