Staring At The Sun

Can you feel it? Spring is eeking its glorious tentacles of germination and photosynthesis through the cold, barren, desolate clutches of winter.

This time of year is one of my favorites. I feel like I’m cresting the top of a roller coaster… you know, that part where you come to a complete standstill right before plummeting at break-neck speeds towards what could be your impending death.  It gives me hope. It sounds funny, but it’s true. Because of this pre-spring fever that is setting in, I’m open to things that might otherwise seem impossible, unrealistic or just plain loony. I have hope that a black man can become president. Hope that the 80′s style resurgence will soon be recognized for what it is… a very laughable and embarrassing repeat of a one decade mistake. Hope that Jesus will come again… but this time maybe he’ll stay for dinner, and a little xbox.

Sure, there’s a little crazy in me, but there is good reason.  For the past 4 months, I have been staring at the sun wondering how it can be so close and so bright without permitting me to bask in its warmth.  But today, I got a tease. Today, winter decided to roll over, take a nap and let spring take the stage in all of its splendor and glory.

In honor of this momentous occasion, I give you this:

Oh man, you have no idea how much I agree with you. March 1st is when I normally think it should start getting warm again. It’s so close yet so far.

I disagree. Well not all the way. I am glad winter is taking a break, but I think it is just trying to trick us into false hopes of spring. Trust me, winter will be back in full force soon and she will bring all of her yuckiness with her.

    You don’t even like rollercoasters.

Adam stirs in the soil, his restless body begins to awaken and shake off the frozen soil.
In his eyes is the fire of the summer sun.

Now, as for this ‘little crazy’ in you, did you eat a psychotic dwarf?
